PRESSE

Franpi Barriaux - CITIZEN JAZZ

Olivier Acosta - MOZAIC JAZZ

ENGLISH PRESS

« Let’s just make things clear. You have to see La Scala in concert. It’s like a slap, but highly concentrated in happiness and beauty. Both refined and thrilling, enchanting and destabilising. Sometimes serious, but amusing too. Lyrical sections, entangled strings, melodious rhythms, wandering walking bass, angry outbursts and sudden tender caresses. In all these styles, this foursome can claim to be a tight, powerful group with a strike force that carries individual intentions amazingly well. What is beautiful is very beautiful, what is written is well written, what is improvised strays far and when it strikes out, it strikes you down. »
MOZAIC JAZZ

« We are transported from a clearly stated and even highly knowledgeable chamber music atmosphere to improvisations in the bounciest style of jazz, travelling from tenderness to escapism, from meditation to revolt, from dark to
light... with an overall tone of the science of transitions. »
JAZZ MAGAZINE

« Humour is omnipresent in this means of threading the entire 20th century through the eye of a needle, entering the written side and leaving via the back door of improvisation. This is no cheeky or truculent laugh, but a mischievous ! whisper that transforms the derisory into a poetic élan, bolstered with emotion. This is a ladder that will make you dizzy: climbing up like a weatherman’s frog to see a bright future for Tricollectif. »
CITIZEN JAZZ

« Their compositions stress the dramatic, demanding plot, juggling beautifully between tormented contemplation and explosive lyricism. The quartet sees its musical aesthetics as inclusive, encompassing organic ideas from innovative, modern composers such as Béla Bartók , Arnold Schoenberg and Karlheinz
Stockhausen with elements of blues, jazz and even rock. After the intense, dramatic opening, the rest are shorter and focused on highlighting one dramatic idea. Still, these adventurous minimalist pieces do not comply to any genre or convention. All suggest an ironic, and even an amused perspective on the never ending human aspiration to sculpt a path—sonic, artistic or spiritual—to a higher plain. »
